As we announced at the beginning of this month, Indie Week through Local First Arizona was extended through an entire month to help struggling local businesses through this very difficult time. As we head into our third week of the event we would like to give to a little recap and give you some more information about shopping local.
Are you wondering why it is so important to shop local? Well, did you know that for every $100 spent at a local business, $43 remains in your local economy? Yep, it’s true. As a contrast, for every $100 spent at a non-locally owned business only $13 dollars remain in the local economy.
We have had a great response this year and we are hoping for more as we finish out the event. Go to our website to see our current special offering https://therootsalon.com.
Another great benefit of supporting local businesses now is the impact on local decision making. Local ownership ensures that important desicions are made by people who live in the community and will feel the impact of those decisions.
Here are some of the locally owned businesses that our team loves to support:
Pubblico Italian Eatery These guys are our neighbors here at Crown on Seventh (5813 North 7th street). Their food is fantastic and all of their pasta is made in house. Give them a call at (602) 601-5651.
Muse Apparel Such a great women’s boutique! It is also female owned and operated like us! They have been in business the same amount of time as us, too. Shop at Muse at 100 East Camelback Road, next door to AJ’s Fine Foods (also local).
Smelly Dog A great place to take your canine buddy. From daycare to grooming and loads of goodies and treats, there is something for every pooch. They are just south of us at 5739 North 7th Street and they are also female owned.
So get out there this last few days of the event and start discovering and supporting great local spots!
