With everything happening in the world right now, this can be an especially trying time for anybody struggling with their mental health. Many people that suffer from things like anxiety and depression use their normal day to day lives as distractions from the feelings they are having.
It’s been really hard for me as I’ve been forced to slow down and sit in my emotions. But, after gaining some experience with it, this has actually ended up being one of the most beneficial things for me. When you are forced to stop and really sit with yourself, your thoughts, your emotions, you’re able to gain a better understanding of the “why” behind your feelings and what is triggering them.
And Once you’re able to start targeting those things, you’re able to find ways to heal and love those parts of yourself.
At the end of the day, it’s easy to find this or that to distract you from what you’re really feeling. Now that things are opening back up, my goal is to remember that it’s good to take a minute to stop and let yourself breathe; acknowledge your emotions.
As hard as it may be, it might be what you need to heal those parts of yourself you find hard to love.
