So now that we know traditional Balayage is soft and sun-kissed; foiliage is dark and vivid…let’s talk about one of my favorite ways to introduce the technique to a client.
Bowliage!
Bowliage is a great add-on service to anyone that wants to “just try a lil”, or really wants to break up the color on her part and hairline.
This color treatment is applied at the shampoo bowl, on damp hair. While the client is relaxing with her head tilted back, gravity has her complete hairline out of her face. This allows the perfect setting to apply strategically placed highlights.
It’s especially great for women who often wear their hair back. And, for those with sensitive skin or who wear contacts, it’s a safe way to highlight around the face without the worry of irritation to the skin or eyes while processing.
(Quick note to stylists: Ask if your client wears contacts. Processing at times can irritate her eyes. Simply remove the wrap from around her face to let air in. Then after shampoo while in the bowl revisit the placement.)
For our clients and guests to-be: Come in to The Root Salon for a free color consultation, where we can discuss the best Balayage for your hair needs!
