It's Katie!

It’s Katie!

You may notice a few new faces at The Root Salon. Meet our newest Assistant/Junior stylist, Katie!

This is my first blog written for The Root Salon, as I just moved to Phoenix at the beginning of April. When my dad and I made the long haul down south from Montana, I realized that I have now lived in five states before the age of 25. Kind of crazy considering three of the moves were one hundred percent my own choice to make.

I was born in Idaho, moved to Montana, went to college in Oregon, cosmetology school in Washington and now I am living in the desert of Arizona. My family is very close, so being so far away from the most important people in my life can be tough. However, each town or city I have lived in has taught me many life lessons not only about myself, but also about establishing a network of quality people that surround and support you, and if you’re lucky they truly become your family. I have made life long friends at every stop along the way. Each one offers something different to my life and personal growth, but none are without value.

With every change in life it, can be so easy to think about what you’re missing out on elsewhere or how life could be better if only you were there instead of where you currently are. I myself am quite guilty of this. However, I am challenging myself to live in the now during this great adventure I’m on and to cherish it all — every moment, challenge placed in front of me, interaction, celebration, lesson and chance for growth — because there are so many others without the opportunity.

Cheers to this next adventure and life in the desert!
