No...please...no more heat!

No…please…no more heat!

We are all trying to survive the Phoenix summer and the very last thing any of us need is more hot air!

So, how do you best manage blow drying your hair in the heat of the summer? This can be miserable if you don’t adjust your routine for the summer months. But never fear, we have some great advice.

First off, I start with a cool shower. It is truly better for your skin hair and nails to use cooler water. Starting off this way you are not beginning in a warm environment. Make sure you are running your bathroom’s exhaust fan to remove the heat that is rising to the top of the room.

I like to use a small fan on my counter to help with cooling the room. Then, I use my micro fiber hair towel (available at The Root Salon) to squeeze as much moisture out of my hair as possible to cut down on drying time.

Make sure to start at the bottom with sections the same size as your brush on medium heat instead of high. As soon as you are sure your section is dry, hit the cool shot button (if you are using a dryer with out one — OMG — we have that, too). Cool that section for at least 10 seconds and you are good to go.

Work through your whole head until your style is complete. For extra fullness without heat, wrap each dry section around a velcro roller while you apply your make-up!

Pretty, and cool!
