Jillian proves she can pull anything off!

Jillian proves she can pull anything off!

My name is Jillian and I shaved my head.

Ok I get it, it’s not for everyone. Then again, I’m not everyone am I…..??!? Hmmmm…what an interesting concept!

Just let me start by saying hair is an extension of who YOU are. A continuum of how you want to be perceived and viewed. I believe a hairstyle should be worn to complement a person, not only how you look but also how you feel. That’s why I did it. That’s why I shaved my head.

Like I said, I get that it’s not for everyone. But it certainly is for ME. I’ve had a desire to shave my head for almost 6 years now. I couldn’t shake this innate, internal urge to do it.

Just to know what it feels like?! Can anyone identify?? The freedom one must feel when they just roll out of bed in the morning and go?! What’s that like?? The ability to be able to put on some makeup, throw something on, and run out the door to wherever in under 10 minutes….is that even possible?? To drive around in the car, with the windows rolled down and feel only the breeze in your face….can it be so?!

The answer is yes. To all of those questions. How liberating it is to just not have to do your hair. Don’t get me wrong I LOVE doing hair!! Not only my clients, but also my own. BUT I also like playing with my look and pushing the boundaries on what is appropriate, beautiful, or acceptable for a woman to look like.

So many people have asked if my health is in jeopardy or if I was in some kind of mental distress when I chose to buzz off my hair. These questions are legitimate questions, I understand. It’s definitely not everyday a woman chooses to ditch her crowning glory of hair. But it saddens me that the world just automatically assumes a negative reason for this look.

On the contrary, it was such a positive, uplifting, invigorating and liberating foundation from which this idea had blossomed. It’s amazing how much I feel like myself, how free and alive I feel, with making such a bold decision.

Even if it isn’t by shaving all your hair off, I wish all woman could make such a bold decision for themselves. One that will make you feel more like YOU!! One that isn’t made on the pretenses of how other people will view you or judge you. We only have one life to live, and I believe on living it to your fullest!!! Carpe diem, ladies!!
