Smashing looks, killer career, fantastic friends, and an awesome girlfriend…this gal’s got it all!

Hi ya’ll!

My name is Emily Baczewski and I was born in St. Louis, MO. I only lived there for a short while before I moved to Dallas, TX (as you may have guessed). I was raised there until I was about 10 years old. Finally, I landed in this bright and shining city I now call home. Today, I love cenpho and I wouldn’t trade it for the world!

I took a bit of a wiggly road to find my career as a stylist. I remember that when I graduated from high school, I had a vision that I’d move onto work in which I would make something pretty.

To be honest, I wanted to do hair for the longest time but my mom insisted that I get a degree first. So I took a shot at making homes pretty. After a few semesters at community college, I enrolled at ASU as an interior design student. I loved it but it kicked my ass…hard and right into beauty college!

And thank heavens for that! I graduated in 2007 from beauty school and hit the ground running.

I had known Lauren Hart, owner of The Root Salon, for a while and called her for advice. I did not want to work in a corporate salon  — the idea of being dictated over with no freedom was too stifling for me. She offered to let me literally stand around The Root Salon for a day so I could see what small salon life was all about. I loved it.

Almost six years later, I am still smiling when I walk in The Root Salon door each day. I am now a senior stylist here and I call this salon my home. While working here I have had great opportunities to learn and study around the country (Long Beach, San Francisco, Miami and New Orleans to name a few). I have enjoyed my career here and I absolutely love what I do.

I’ve found that techniques like ombrĂ© hair color and dimensional blonding draw my talent. I happen to cut a mean set of layers, too!

Being a part of The Root Salon team has been great! Raised as an only child by a strong woman, I have been on my own when facing many challenges. But not here. I am lucky enough to work with my best friends Emily Claire and Rox, who I consider my sisters.

On a personal note, I have two below-knee pups and a beautiful girlfriend who I love very much.

It’s great to have such an amazing support system that sees me through each and every day of beauty at The Root Salon!
