Okay, we are just getting over some pretty major fashion and arts events for this time of year (think Coachella and the MET Gala). There were some definite “hair-raising” things happening to some of the celebrities’ coveted manes. Things that seem so impossible to us hairdressers, that has everyone questioning, pondering how THEY can have this magical type of hair?? How can Kylie Jenner have a short black flawless bob at the MET gala, when two weeks prior she had hair down to her waist, rainbow colored in pigtail braids?
For the longest time, as this is not a news flash that celebrities hair is always evolving, I thought that they had access to the best hairstylists in the world who must have known something about hair that I didn’t. It was the only possible answer for how Kim Kardashian can have black hair today in LA and frosty ice platinum hair tomorrow in Paris, right?? She has inexhaustible funds and time to where she can sit in the salon for a nine hour transformation. That’s got to be it?
But her hair was never the slightest bit damaged, or even cut to get rid of the damage, so how does she flip flop back and forth? Not to mention her sister Kylie, who, over the last year, has had every length hair from bob to butt, and every spectrum of the rainbow. It’s gorgeous, fun, and what every girl that’s on Instagram wants — dare I say, NEEDS!!!!
It has come to my attention as of late, though, that hair is indeed hair and rules are the same. Whether you’re little old me in Phoenix, AZ doing a color application, or a celebrity stylist doing one of Kardashian’s hair. Sure, we work magic but let’s get real. I’m sure you’ve guessed correctly that Hollywood’s big secret is wigs! Really, really excellent wigs.
Since I’ve discovered this, it turns out a LOT of Hollywood wears wigs. Which is fantastic in my opinion!
It allows one to be whoever or whatever they want to be for the day. Similar to putting on a pair of shoes or deciding on a handbag. Do I want long curly hair today, or a short pastel bob?! How fun!
The catch is, for a wig to look really like your own head of hair, it has to be made of real human hair. And the best is a lace frontal wig (which gives the illusion of a real hairline). A lace frontal wig made of real hair can command anywhere up to $1000 or more!
The stylist who is in charge of keeping the likes of Kylie Jenner, Kim Kardashian, and Karrueche Tran’s hair the talk of the town with these kind of wigs is Tokyo Stylez, a master of his craft. If you like to keep up with these girls and their latest hair, I’d suggest you follow Tokyo Stylez on Instagram.
Now we can all rest assured knowing that there is no secret weapon in achieving these looks on your own head of hair…just get a wig and have some fun!!!!
