Sexy poolside look? Achieved.
It’s mid-June, that freaky cool weather is done, and the heat is definitely on. It’s time for some poolside parties!
It’s always difficult to manage makeup at a day by the pool. Of course, we all wish to wear a little makeup to a party or get-together. But with sunblock needing to be applied and re-applied liberally and the possibility of having to go underwater or wear goggles (especially if you have kids with you), face makeup can be real tricky. There’s waterproof makeup, of course, but I personally can’t stand having heavy product on my face on a day when I’m being physical and active.
So my trick is simple: lipstick.
When I’m headed to the pool, I skip all other makeup but throw on some bright, funky lipstick! My current go-to colors are fire engine red, hot pink, and electric plum. Each is super fun in their own way and I always get a compliment or two on the brave color.
Start with a lipliner and feel free to give yourself just a little more volume by lining on the very edge of your natural lip. Then fill in heavily with the bright color of your choice. Really go for it! Bright colors go so well in the bright sun, next to the blue water. I love to use a matte color because it’s bold and it really holds up.
Pair this look with sunglasses, a wide-brimmed hat, your favorite cover-up, and you will look super sophisticated without much makeup!
I’ve personally been rocking this look for two summers and I love it so much! The lipstick really stays on, often for hours, and I feel free to play in the water with my rowdy daughter.
In fact, she loves it too because when Mommy wears bright lipstick, she gets to, too!
