As I read through the newest Harper’s Bazaar magazine the other day, I stumbled across an upcoming trend in hair called “The New Wave.”
Not only is this look low-key, it’s easy to achieve and creates the illusion of higher and wider cheekbones. And we all want that, right? Here’s how to get it:
Step One: Start with clean, dry hair and grab the pieces that frame your face.
Step Two: Use a styling wand or rod (side note: traditional curling irons with clamps create obvious ridges so don’t use them here) and, starting from about 3 inches from the base of the hair, wrap a piece around the rod and give the iron one quick twist. The hair should be wrapped so it will curl away from the face. Only hold for a second or two then release so the curl settles into a mere wave.
Step Three: Repeat these steps for pieces near the chin. Allow your natural wave to provide the rest of the volume and feel free to use this method in areas that need a little help.
Step Four: When finished, use a light hold hairspay like our Minardi FINISH or L’Oreal Texture Expert Infinium 4. Just a slight scrunch while spraying sets the look.
This look subtle styling doesn’t create a full head of tousled, loose curls. Instead, it achieves a strategic “bend” in the hair to create the aforementioned illusion of higher and wider cheekbones!
Enjoy!
