Be like Charlize and mix it up!

When I get the opportunity to take a client on a hair journey, it’s just like any other relationship — there needs to be trust and communication. I like to approach my client by telling them some of latest trends I’ve seen or done on myself. Because my clients have trust in me, I usually get them to step out of their box and try a new trend.

Another thing a stylist can do is to take a class to get some inspiration. It can be a styling class or even a color placement class. Learning is challenging and requires us to use our experience and creativity so it’s the perfect way to gear up for creating change with our clients.

I’ve also gone on things like Instagram and YouTube to get more ideas. The choices are endless, and there’s always something to be learned!

So never be shy to suggest something new for a client. No one likes to show up time after time and do the same repetitive thing, so take the opportunity to get your client excited and spark a change for them! Clients too, don’t be shy to approach your stylist with an idea!
