There it is! The Pantone Color of the Year for 2017!
The year is coming to an end and as beauty professionals, this means we are looking forward to next year’s trends.
One thing that we rely on each year is the announcement of the Pantone Color of the Year. This year, we’re letting you in on this industry practice so you can be on trend just like many design and beauty professionals!
First, let’s talk about what this whole Pantone thing is about. Pantone is a company that was started in 1963 that solved a very major problem in design: color accuracy. From design to production in textiles, print, and other manufacturing, color could vary wildly from the original intent. Pantone created a standardized color matching system to solve this problem and has since become leaders in color communication and innovation in the design industry.
Just before the holidays, Pantone announces its “color of the year” for the upcoming calendar year. This informs much of what you’ll see in fashion, advertising, and the general aesthetic of our visual culture. Expect to see this as the color of choice for everything under the sun: logos, websites, couches, shoes, eyeshadow, bridesmaids dresses, wall paint, cars, dresses, textiles…the list goes on!
So, for 2017, the Pantone Color of the year is Greenery 15-0343!
