Eucalyptus is one of Naomi's favorite essential oils.

Eucalyptus is one of Naomi’s favorite essential oils.

With cold and flu season upon us, I want to share a few of my favorite essential oils to have on stock in your medicine cabinet to be prepared to fight off nearly anything that comes your way!

I have been using oils for years and love that when I feel a slight cold or sniffle coming on, I don’t need to run to the drugstore for help. They are a great natural remedy and can be used in a multitude of ways that are totally up to you. I found a quick article on thechalkboardmag.com on how to diffuse safely and how to mix with another ‘carrier oil’ for inhalation use, check it out! Applying the oils to the bottoms of your feet is also great, as well as adding them to moisturizer and body wash.

1. Oregano – antiviral and antibacterial, also used to make natural hand sanitizer
2. Thyme – antiseptic properties, actually one of the original ingredients in Listerine!
3. Eucalyptus – antiseptic and antibacterial, not to mention absolutely INVIGORATING
4. Lime – antiseptic, antibacterial, & antiviral
5. Frankincense – great for coughs, can also be made into great antiseptic spray to protect ouchies
6. Peppermint – aids digestion
7. Hyssop – helps with respiratory infections and super beneficial in supporting the lungs
8. Lemon – antibacterial and disinfectant
9. Clove – anti-imflammatory, analgesic & antibacterial
10. Ginger – aids digestion

Whether you are needing a boost to your immune system, detox your liver, calm your inflamed lungs, or just maintain overall health, these oils are a staple! Check out aveda.com to purchase a few of these lovely oils.
