We kinda feel like this never used to be such a big problem here in “dry heat” Phoenix, Arizona. But even in the salon with the doors closed, we seem to be tormented by these pesky creatures.
Sure, there are all kinds of poisons, sprays, rubs, and citronella candles that work okay. But who wants to hang out pool side, enjoying an alfresco meal from the grill, then hop into bed covered in poison? Not very sexy right? Plus, if you have had a cocktail or two, stepping into the shower seems like a pain.
We credit one of our male clients for this week’s Tips & Tricks Tuesday (one of the things we love most about our job — learning from our clients!). He had done some research and shared with us that lavender wards off these little suckers!
Well go figure, our avid gardener and team leader wears an all-natural deodorant that is lavender based! We put her to the test market. Every morning when she gardens and the mosquito population is active, she has rubbed her legs with Tom’s of Main “wild lavender” deodorant.
Guess what? No bites! The lavender works! It is a fraction of the cost of the poisons stuff, it smells good and it is okay to crawl into bed wearing it.
So, fight the summer pestilence with a very easy trick!
