Did you know that the water temperature you shampoo your hair really matters? Now you might be thinking what is the stylist talking about? When shampooing your hair, you want to stay away from hot water because it could damage your hair. One of the reasons that is true is because hot water opens up the hair cuticle, which can make the hair loose at the scalp and can be the leading cause of hair to fall out when brushing after a hot shower. Also, for those who suffer from dandruff, one of the main reasons someone could get dandruff is because of hot water. Hotter temperatures cause dry scalp which later can lead to dandruff. For the clients that are very active and like to work out, I would say to not enter the Sauna more than 3 times a week and avoid staying there for a long time. I have personally experienced dandruff due to visiting the sauna room too often in one week.
Some of you might be thinking, well winter is just around the corner how can we take cool or cold showers, and the answer is you don’t have to. You can start by putting your hair in a bun or avoid getting it wet and take a warm temperature body shower. Once your done with that start shampooing your hair with luke warm (or cool) water temperature. After your done with that towel dry your hair and apply the conditioner and leave it in for about five minutes. When your done with that, rinse your hair with cooler water temperature to close the pores on your scalp & seal down the cuticle, this also avoids dealing with dandruff and dry scalp problems in your future. Hope some of these tips help!
