Grow, grow, grrroowww!!!

Grow, grow, grrroowww!!!

Are you wanting longer hair for the new year? We have a few ideas to help you get there.

What are you eating? Longer, stronger hair depends on foods that are rich in biotin. Biotin is a B-complex vitamin, and has been proven to be essential for promoting hair growth. Try to have a palm-size serving three times a day. It can be found in eggs, almonds, and avocados. Iron is also important to hair health. It oxygenates your follicles that produce hair. Iron rich foods include chick peas (think hummus), oatmeal, meat, and spinach.

Another healthy hair practice is to give your scalp a monthly deep cleaning. Your scalp (especially in the winter when you are cold and don’t shampoo as often) builds up excess oils, styling products and dead skin cells. This can cause inflammation and weakening of the hair follicle. Monthly or bimonthly use of a good deep cleaning shampoo can be a big help. We love Aveda’s Scalp Benefits Balancing Shampoo. It gently cleanses, nourishes and balances the scalp so all hair types look and feel healthy with a nurturing blend including burdock root, echinacea and sage. Make sure to focus on the hair line and the back of your scalp because this is where build up can be the heaviest.

Regular micro-trims help as well. Let us know that your goal is to grow and we’ll be sure to take just enough off to promote hair growth without sacrificing the length you’re working toward (book on-line here).

We hope this helps a little and have fun growing your hair in 2017!
