Tips & Tricks Tuesday: It’s Fall in Phoenix, Go Outside!

Rock climbing at Pinnacle Peak in Scottsdale.

Yes! It’s fall!

Time to go outside, right?

Well, sure! But , for the sake of safety, be selective.

We live in a great place for outdoor activity. Whether it’s hiking our many mountains, biking along the canals, jogging along Central Avenue, horseback riding through the desert, or rock climbing Pinnacle Peak, Phoenix starts to come alive in the fall months with residents and snowbirds ready to get some fresh air.

All that said, the temperatures are still 100+ and while we’re all eager to get out there, we do need to be safe. Just as it is true in the dead of summer, the safest times to go outside are dawn and dusk.

If you like your outdoor activities in the early morning or late evening, consider adding an hour to your time outside. In this “cool” weather, you can push your mileage, your elevation, or your step count without risking heat exhaustion.

Just be sure to keep drinking LOTS of water! And, if you’re heading out to explore the desert, tell someone where you are going and when you expect to be back.

Now get out there and live it up!
