The School Year is Here!

By August 24, 2018No Comments

For the purpose of this blog post, we googled “Kindergarten kids”.

It’s that time of year! School has begun for most of us here in Phoenix, AZ and this year, we had three team members sending their little ones off to kindergarten.

As one of them, I can tell you it was quite the whirlwind of emotions! So much pride, fear, excitement, love, happiness, and sadness because your baby’s growing up. It seems like just yesterday that they were born, learning to walk, and to talk. Then before you know it they’re off to kindergarten.

All summer long was kind of chaotic in our household. We tried our very best to do have a lot of fun and spend as much time in the water as we could. With the summer came some loosening of the reigns. Our bedtimes were sporadic and mornings were pretty chaotic. So now that school has started we’re really having to buckle down.

Creating routines has always been hard for me. I’m a fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants kind of person when it comes to a lot of things. But one thing I’m learning as a parent is that children thrive with routines. While it may be kind of hard to get started, in the long run it pays off.

Kindergarten has been the perfect motivation to really set our routine in motion. And I must say that having a bedtime and sticking to it, has made my nights so much more peaceful. Bedtime is usually such a pain but since kindergarten has started my little has been so tired, that at 7:45 when I say let’s pick our story and go to bed, he says, “Yay!”

Not only has bedtime been better, but our mornings run smoother as well. And one thing I have been enjoying about kindergarten: I get a whole hour by myself before my work day starts!

The very start of kindergarten was, well, interesting. But now that it’s been two weeks, I can confidently say that our household is running better than ever! I am so proud of my kindergartener, and proud of my fellow kinder moms. It’s definitely been a whirlwind of emotion, and a lot to figure out, but more than anything I am so filled with pride!
