When it comes to central Phoenix, there are hidden gems all over. Whether they are tucked in a neighborhood or complex, it’s one of my favorite things about Phoenix. When I moved to central Phoenix about seven years ago, I started to hunt places down, determined to find the best. Over the years, many have come and gone, gracing us with great memories.

At the moment, I have five places that are a must-try to every Phoenician.

Welcome Diner — Nestled in the Garfield neighborhood, not only does this place have a great menu and the best drinks in Phoenix, the vibe is amazing! The staff is wonderful and it really makes you feel like Phoenix is the place to be.

The Coronado — Right off of 7th street, this great cafe took over the old Coronado Cafe. It’s in a charming house and I cannot rave enough about this place. Everything here makes me happy, especially having late drinks or brunch on their patio. They have outstanding service, great food and drinks, and their pastries are out of this world.

Treehouse Bakery — The bakery that everyone wished they owned! It’s right off of Grand and 15th Avenues, across from the infamous Bikini Lounge. This place has the best sweets I’ve had in a really long time. You walk in and instantly feel at home. I encourage everyone to at least try this place once in their lives.

Welcome Chicken + Donuts — The same owners as Welcome Diner own this eclectic spot. It’s off of Buckeye Road and 15th Street. All of the food here is all natural with no preservatives and their donuts are the business! Best in Phoenix, hands down.

Bonus Round — This new bar opened in the complex right next to Stinkweeds and the comic book store on Camelback and Central. It’s a great barcade with a neighborhood feel. It reminds me very much of the Midwest and that’s probably why I love it. Any comic book fiend or video game connoisseur would love this place.

Hope you enjoyed my little piece of Phoenix and take it upon yourselves to go out and find some great hidden gems!
