As the owner of a small business, I often get asked if leading my team is tiring and more like babysitting.
No way!
I’m sure some work leaders feel that way but here’s my philosophy: I remind myself that my true role is to be a mentor.
There are so many benefits to taking a mentorship approach to leading my team. Mentoring helps employees reach their full potential; thus promoting their personal and professional development in a supportive way. Mentorship enhances leadership and coaching skills in current and future managers.
As an employer of mentored employees, I gain from greater productivity in the workplace. It allows me to have a more personal connection to my team members.
We spend so much time away from family and being at work, I prefer to enjoy being around the people that work for me and I believe that this approach paves the way for a healthier work environment.
