My husband’s receding hairline is hardly noticeable. Yes, this is really him. I swear.
Throughout my single dating life, I subtly manipulated almost every boyfriend or romantic interest to become a client at The Root Salon.
My husband is no exception. When we met six years ago, he was a working musician ready to hit the road for a national tour. And being a rocker-type dude, he’s always had fantastic style.
But he had one challenge: A receding hairline.
When it’s your job to get 20-year-olds (or younger) to listen to your music, a receding hairline isn’t exactly the best look.
To make matters worse, the 30-year-old guy was sporting styles that belonged on a 20-year-old. When we were looking at some of his press photos, he jokingly remarked, “I don’t like this one…too much baldness.”
That was my in.
“You know, I think if you went to my salon, they could give you a cut that works better,” I said…in a strategically casual way.
After he returned from his appointment at The Root Salon, the guy actually looked younger. He and his Root Salon stylist decided to ditch his longer locks (which I later referred to as the hipster comb-over) and embraced a shorter, cropped look. The trimmed hair eliminated the “wispy” look his long hair caused and instead, created the illusion of a stronger hairline.
This is just one of the many ways that I-er, the Root Salon improved our life together. Six years later, I’m sure he’s lost a bit more hair but with The Root Salon on his side, I’ve hardly noticed additional hair loss.
