Big welcome to Forest!

Big welcome to Forest!

Alright, first off, my name really is Forest. I had hippie parents and was born at home in the forest in Oregon!

I love having a different name, but you can imagine the Forrest Gump jokes I got, among others! I’ve lived in Arizona since I was 2 years old and I think my body subconsciously misses the climate in the Pacific Northwest sometimes. I love it in Arizona though, mainly because you can be sweltering in the heat, but then drive north for a couple of hours and be in cooler weather.

I enjoy being outside, hiking, bike-riding or walking our two dogs Cosmo and Lucy. My husband and I also go camping a lot (either car camping or backpacking).

I am also a newlywed! I just got married this past June. It was beautiful, exactly the wedding that I dreamed of. We got married at wonderful little winery in Chino Valley, AZ called Granite Creek Vineyards in front of 70 of our closest family and friends. I feel so lucky to have found my best friend and soul mate.

Being the perfectionist that I am, I did my own hair for my wedding, including my two bridesmaids, my mom’s and my step-mom’s and my dad’s! A hairdresser’s work is never done! I wanted everyone to look beautiful!

I have been a hairdresser now for 15 years. I cut my Barbie dolls hair as a young girl. I then graduated to cutting my family’s hair and then my friend’s hair by the time I was in high school. After I graduated and had been working for a few months, I decided to go to cosmetology school. Needless to say, my parents weren’t surprised. I love that my job is to make people beautiful.

It is so wonderful to see people leave the salon excited about the way that they look. I love that the hair industry is always changing, whether it be a new technique, product, tool, or keeping ahead of the newest trends. I have attended hair shows and classes in London, England, Chicago and Las Vegas as well as plenty of classes here in AZ.

I am so excited to be a member of the team here at The Root Salon. I love that we all work together so well and get to enjoy such a cozy atmosphere. I am looking forward to becoming a true member of the family here and to enjoy many happy years doing what I love!
