Your weapon against chlorine damage.

Your weapon against chlorine damage.

Summer is coming.

Which means many of us will be spending some serious leisure time hopping in and out of swimming pools. This activity is great for our over-the-heat-already souls, sure. But what about our hair?

It’s no secret that the chlorine in swimming pool water can seriously thrash your hair. Chlorine is added to swimming pools to keep bacteria and other micro-organisms from growing and getting funky in the water. But it also strips our hair of its shine provided by our precious sebum or oil that is naturally occurring in every person.

Chlorine has zero regard for our natural sebum. HOW RUDE! Once the chlorine has penetrated into the hair (which can be done very quick — even with a splash) it begins to build up and dry out the hair. Sometimes, it can even change the hair color.  I’m sure we have seen super blonde hair that turns lime green. That’s the chlorine. And when you add the heat from the sun to this equation, our hair and skin become dry, dry, dry.

Bottom line: Chlorine is terrible for hair…and skin!

But we can help with that because the fine folks at Aveda developed the Aveda Sun Care product. This product rejuvenates hair and skin after pool time and super, super sunny weather. This product cleanses chlorine from the hair and skin to help maintain the moisture balance.

Using Aveda sun care hair and body cleanser will remove all chlorine build up and hydrate the hair and skin again. Its creamy lather rinses away clean but leaves behind delicious citrus fragrance. And it’s filled with good stuff: 100% certified organic essences of neroli, ylang ylang and cistus.

This product should be applied to wet hair and skin and worked into a lather then rinsed. Easy!
