The fabulous at-home blow dry…it can be done!

Every woman loves a fresh blowout (am I right, Ladies?).

But, at home, when you’re sweating from that hot blow dryer with aching arms, it’s tricky to recreate that fresh-from-the-salon feeling.

We can so totally help you!

Here are a few tips….

Start at the top. Don’t waste energy messing with the bottom sections only to be all tuckered out when you finally reach the top of your head. If you want lift — of course you do — begin at the top where the height will count most.  Once you’ve got the top dry, flip it over to cool on the opposite side of your head. Move the blow dryer downward, concentrating on one section at a time. If you get tired, you can just power-dry the remaining hair underneath.

Use product. Always remember to apply some sort of product before your at-home blowout. This helps control frizz, add height, accomplish hold, and all around makes your life easier. During your next appointment, talk to your Root Salon stylist and we’ll hook you up with the perfect product for your specific hair type.

Focus on problem areas. If you have a troublesome growth pattern (the dreaded cow-lick) tackle that area during the beginning of the blow dry. Aim the flow of air in the desired direction you want the hair to adopt. And don’t be shy with that brush…use it liberally to smooth those stubborn strands.

Practice, practice, practice. We promise, you can achieve a fabulous at-home blowout…it just might take a few trials. And you know what they say, practice makes perfect.

Okay, now go and get that va-va-voom look at home!
