Living Aveda Bees

By September 28, 2018No Comments

We love the bees!

Did you know Aveda has five colonies of honeybees? That’s over 100,000 bees!

Aveda’s effort is a partnership with the Minnesota Bee Squad to aid and protect these fascinating winged creatures. Aveda is passionate about protecting and preserving the habitats for pollinators because without the bees, they could not create these amazing products. But the Aveda bees are not working for Aveda, they are living with Aveda’s help!

Aveda bees built their hive without blue prints. Open wood frames were used instead of plastic inserts. And the honeycomb hives are built entirely of natural pine with no treatments at all.

Here are some fun facts about honey bees…

The female honey bee is known to be one of the hardest working creatures in the world. In just one day, a single bee will harvest several thousand flowers, making several trips and gathering pollen from just a single species each time.

An average female honey bee gathers pollen and nectar from over 500 million flowers a year.

An average of one out of every three bites of food on our tables benefits from honey bee pollination. Some of the most nutritious foods like nuts, berries, fruits, veggies, all depend on pollination process.

A queen bee can live up to 5 years and can lay up to 2,000 eggs per day!

We say bravo to Aveda for supporting these important creatures!

Aveda strives to be a leader not just in the beauty industry but around the world. Aveda products are “people tested” and an animal cruelty-free brand. Aveda has a serious commitment to caring for animals and wildlife.
