With Father’s Day around the corner, The Root Salon team wants to recognize the great dads out there. Here are our stories about the awesome dads we know…
I married my husband, Lou, because I knew he was a wonderful man and I assumed he’d be a wonderful father, too.
We became parents on September 10, 2014 and while we believed we were ready, we were totally unprepared. There’s really no way one can know what it’s like to be a parent until becoming one. And we had a “strong-willed” baby to boot!
I’ll never forget one night, I handed our sleeping newborn to Lou. He looked at her and blurted, “I love her soooooo muuuuuuch!” The expression on his face was drenched in love, compassion, and patience. And he brings those qualities (and so much more) to his fatherhood every single day. Whether it’s a terrible day, a super-fun day, a perfect day, a sick day, an exhausted day, or a terrifying day, Lou has been the solid rock of our family. He has a calm nature and a great deal of wisdom that has carried us through these past 21 months.
Plus, he has no problem whatsoever making a total dork out of himself for the sake of a good toddler laugh.
I assumed he would be a wonderful father. Lucky for us, I was right!
