We are all familiar with the coif of short hair that so many of our dear grannies sported in their golden years.
Obviously, our culture of yesteryear influenced women of a “certain age” to adopt a certain hairstyle. I don’t feel that this is a standard anymore. With so many beautiful women of all ages to inspire us, it’s no wonder that we are seeing long and luxurious hair on more mature ladies.
What’s considered to be “long hair” is relative. Our grannies probably thought chin-length was long. A 20-year-old, on the other hand, may not call hair “long” until it touches her back bra strap.
Here’s a great rule of thumb: Use the hair’s texture to determine the best length. If the texture isn’t shiny and healthy, a shorter cut is most appropriate. If your hair tends to get stringy after it passes your shoulders, then a bob is probably the best for you. We say go for the grow then cut accordingly.
This is all assuming longer hair suits your lifestyle. Hair in general is such a personal thing, we want you to be comfortable at whatever length you choose. As you mature, if it becomes difficult for you to use a blow dryer every day, then we can help you find a style (long or short) that accommodates your needs.
Our expert stylists will be able to create a look for you that’s flattering and appropriate for your lifestyle without pushing you into the granny zone before your time!
