As women, it’s definitely difficult to know which fashion trends to embrace and which ones to let slide. Most of the time, it’s a matter of working with our unique body type – not against it.
Well, the same can be said for your haircut and style.
What if you are tall? Does it mean that you can’t look flirty or feminine if you are a towering beauty? A short cut with width and movement could be just the right fit, especially if you have broad shoulders. Ask your stylist to give your short crop lots of texture if you have thicker hair. Wispy, messy and even a bit of a feathery effect could be just the ticket here.
How about if you are an athletic lady? If you have a natural curl or wave, play that up, girl! Well-styled wave and curl can help a sporty girl look soft and graceful. No natural curl or wave? Stick to the shiniest, healthiest looking hair that flows and says, “touch me.” Fluidity is always perceived as feminine. Try to avoid severe, pulled back styles or very short cuts.
What about those busty bombshells? Well, first off, lucky you! We like to advise our busty clients to choose a very polished, sophisticated cut and style. Whether it’s short or long, we want you to reflect style that allows you to be taken seriously. Over-styled, big hair can give the wrong impression on a busty gal, and we just can’t have the confidence of our well-endowed girls compromised.
So what’s a perky, petite gal to do when it comes to her hairstyle? Little ladies, balance is key here. Overly long hair just won’t do because it will make you appear shorter than you are or even “squatty.” If you’d rather go for a taller, leaner look, we suggest that you do not wear your hair longer than your bra strap. For thicker hair, make sure your stylist gives you tons of layers that will give you movement and prevent your mane from weighing you down. Wear your layers loose and avoid styles that add width in order to maintain a vertical silhouette.
Here at The Root Salon, we would rather you spend time finding this summer’s perfect swimsuit or the perfect-fitting skinny jeans than stress over your perfect haircut. Don’t stress, just talk to us…that’s what we are here for!
