So we all love sticking with a signature hair color in the salon but occasionally, us women tend to get a little bored.
And when our clients are looking for something different, like really different, pink seems to be the most popular pick!
We get a lot of pink requests in October (breast cancer awareness month) or in the spring when the popularity of pastels returns. And now with fashion having a strong rose-gold influence, we are seeing some serious pink-mania from our clients.
The Root Salon loves bold color. But we have a few guidelines and tricks for making fashion tones look as best as possible in real life.
1. If you’re thinking about an exciting, new fashion tone (green, blue, pink, whatever!), please keep in mind that your stylist must dramatically pre-lighten your hair (aka “bleach” it) before we add the fashion color. We do it safely and effectively but we will recommend you use our reconstructing mask or re-hydration treatment to preserve the integrity of your hair.
2. We like to encourage you not to color the entire head. The maintenance, the fading, and all that jazz can quickly compromise such an exciting look. A few peek-a-boo ombré bits that appear on the ends translate into a longer lasting look that won’t get “rooty”.
3. Plan on coming in to have the pieces touched up about every two to three weeks as fashion shades are very prone to fading. Less frequent shampooing with a sulfate free shampoo and conditioner will help prolong the vibrancy of your fun new look (we can help you choose the right products).
If you’re not a fan of pink but still want the drama, we can formulate any color you want! In fact, we’re fulfilling many requests for violet these days as well.
So tell us, what’s your fashion color?
