Am I using my hairspray properly?
If you’re answering anything other than a confident, “YES!” read on!
First, make sure the spray nozzle of the can is not clogged. You can run the nozzle under hot water and clear it with the end of a straightened paper clip.
Hold the spray nozzle at least 12 inches away from your hair, keeping the spray can in constant motion. Be sure to spray in the same direction that your hair is styled (in other words with your hair). If additional hold is needed we recommend using a second coat as most sprays can be cumulative.
There are some pretty innovative hair sprays out there that prevent hair strands from sticking together. Our newest favorite is “Air Control” from our friends at Aveda. It is a flexible, lasting-hold hair spray for all hair types that has a net-zero impact on the Earth’s climate. It is derived from pine resin technology for a lightweight, workable hold. It sprays on surprisingly dry and has an added benefit in winter months: It eliminates static electricity in your hair. Pretty cool huh?
Best of all, it comes in a handy little travel size that is perfect for your purse or glove box. We even recommend them to our brides for touch-ups on the big day. So, go get your hold on!
