As creative professionals, finding sources of inspiration is an absolute must in realizing a full and robust career. Though we are all naturally inspired by interesting and beautiful looking things, we also have to proactively seek art that informs hair.
One of my biggest inspirations is architecture. Many may believe that hair and architecture are not related. This simply isn’t so. Modern and contemporary architecture has played a large role in hairdressing. Think geometry. Clean lines. Structure. Support. Proportion of space.
My personal favorite is Bauhaus architecture. Pioneered in the early 20th century, Bauhaus art and architecture is known for clean lines that create a perfect balance of sharp edges and curvature; all while representing the functionality of the building. These concepts make it an ideal inspiration for hair design.
Do some reading and looking at Bauhaus if you’re seeking new inspiration!
