The salon shelves are the best place to get the good stuff!

The salon shelves are the best place to get the good stuff!

I have been a hairdresser for nearly 16 years and diversion has always been a hot issue.

What is diversion? It is when major retailers (can’t name names here but I’m sure you can guess the big hitters that offer drugstore products) buy professional hair product from a legitimate distributor then set the product aside in a warehouse until the barcode expires so that it can’t be tracked. Then they determine their own prices and stock their shelves.

You’re going to want to avoid these products for sure! Along with the barcode expiring in the warehouse, the product’s ingredients expire as well. In addition, the prices are slightly higher then what you would pay for it in a professional salon. And, worst of all, diverted products could be diluted formulas or counterfeit formulas that may not be safe to use!

Salon products sold at chains are usually easy to spot. They will often have weird stickers on them including a new barcode slapped over the original one.

Honestly, the best way to get salon-quality product is from the product shelves at a salon!

Good product is my number one recommendation to clients when they ask how they can re-create their salon look at home. Paired with a quick lesson in blowdrying their style, my clients are assured that their product is quality and they can achieve their favorite look every day.

Talk to your Root Salon stylist during your next visit to get the absolute best combination of hair product for your hair, color, and style. Think of us as your hair doctors who write the prescription for your hair!

I love that I can buy the same products from The Root that my stylist/colorist (Emily B) uses on my hair in the salon.:)
