We would like to extend a great big thank you to all of our loyal guests, our friends and family for their continued support throughout 2018. As we head into 2019, we are sure everyone is starting the year off by making resolutions to live a healthier and happier life.
But it can be hard to change behaviors that have developed over time. So, how do you do your best to make your resolutions stick and form new habits? We have a few pointers we want to share with you.
Start out small. Making drastic changes can be overwhelming and taking on too much at a time can cause you to set yourself up for failure. For example, if you want to exercise more often, try scheduling a work out three or four times per week instead of seven. You can add more gradually as you accomplish a smaller goal and gain your confidence.
Change one thing at a time. Don’t be overcome and think that you have to reassess everything in your life. Instead, work toward changing one thing at a time.
Talk about it. Sharing your challenges with friends or coworkers can be a huge help. Or, joining a group that has like-minded goals such as a quitting smoking support group. Having someone to talk to can certainly make your journey to a healthier lifestyle that much easier and less intimidating.
Don’t be too hard on yourself when you have a misstep. Beating yourself up because you did not perfectly achieve your goal only delays your chance of change. Everyone has ups and downs. Just because you did not make it to the gym because you got busy is really okay. Just revisit why you made your resolution in the first place and take another stab at it.
I personally am making a huge effort to use less plastic. I am making sure to have my reusable drink cups and metal straws with me wherever I go. I bought extras so that I won’t be stuck at the coffee drive-through without my reusable items.
So what ways will you be trying to lead a better life?
We hope that the New Year brings you and yours much health and happiness. Remember we are always here to make you look and feel beautiful!
