This will be my first Christmas holiday spent in the desert and since I’m from Montana things are understandably feeling a little different!
Since there isn’t any snow on the ground and there hasn’t been any frost on my windows in the morning yet, it is hard to believe that Christmas is only a few short weeks away. I, like many people, love Christmas for so many different reasons.
My brother, sister, and I return home to spend time with our parents and friends from back home. We all eat and drink too much, laugh until we cry and relish the moments together and the new memories made. The time spent together is always too short, but we take advantage of every minute, because we know we won’t all be together for months.
My wonderful roommate and coworker, Marla, has been helping me get into the holiday spirit. Last weekend we bought a tree and decorated it, all while enjoying Eggnog White Russians. We’re planning a road trip up to Flagstaff to enjoy the colder weather and the snow. We will probably go ice skating (something I grew up enjoying) and maybe heading to Zoo Lights or the Desert Botanical Gardens.
Although it is a slightly different feeling than the holidays back home, there is holiday cheer all around; you just have to know where to look for it!
