To all my short haired women, please stand up!
I have a confession to make and I don’t care who hears it: I am SO obsessed with short hair.
From pixies to bobs, there is nothing sexier or more liberating than short hair on a woman. It can be scary and uncomfortable if you are thinking about taking the plunge, especially if you’ve never rocked the look before. But don’t fear ladies! I am here to share some history and that confidence boost you may need to kick those long locks of yours.
Dating back to 1100 B.C. widowed women in Greece would cut their hair short and bury the hair with their husbands. If that isn’t a bold statement, I’m not sure what is!
Moving along the timeline, in 1909 Monsieur Antoine started giving his women clients a cut he called the “bob,” inspired by our girl Joan of Arc. The taboo trend soon caught on and women like Coco Chanel and Josephine Baker were cutting their locks short.
Then in the early 60’s Vidal Sassoon recreated the classic bob look and honestly, we haven’t looked back since.
Today, short hair seems to be taking over the industry by storm, especially when women like Charlize Theron, Jenifer Lawrence, Robin Wright Penn and Emma Watson (the list goes on) are sporting the look.
You’re probably asking yourself now, “What is so great with short hair?!” Well, I say, “What isn’t?!”
Short hair sets your apart from the norm. You can individualize it, whether its the way you style it or just the cut. Its sophisticated and gives off the vibe that you’re comfortable with who you are enough to sport a look like that. It will boost your confidence through the roof. No more dealing with weight or having your shower drain clogged! No more searching for your pony tail holder.. And last but not least, it will probably knock off a good 30 minutes of getting ready in the morning. (Who wouldn’t love that!?)
I’m not saying go out and GI Jane it right off the bat, but having a short do is something to look into, especially if you want a change in your life.
If it’s something you’re on the fence about, do research. Look for hair inspirations through Pinterest, magazines and celebrities first and then consult your stylist. I’m sure your stylist will be thrilled, if not more excited than you, to cut off several inches!
Also, you can think about a slow approach by cutting a little more each time you go into the salon. Try an undercut or a longer bob to get your feet wet at first. Whatever you choose to do, whether its a Mohawk, bob, or cutting five inches off, I salute you and your sassiness!

Short is obviously great on women, I too like it very much. Like you have mentioned, it’s very comfortable, easy to maintain etc, etc. And if you are not satisfied with short hair, you always have the option for hair extensions.
