I’m sure it’s obvious by now that I totally love my job. From cutting to coloring to everything else involved with hair. One of my absolute FAVORITE things to do as a professional is styling wedding hair…especially when I get to style on location.
As a young girl, I was constantly creating hairstyles for my sisters, neighbors, friends, and anyone who had hair that I could curl, pin, or blow dry. Even back then, I took to special occasion styling and even had my own little business!
My mom would take me to a drug store so we could stock up on hairspray, bobby pins, and all the necessary styling tools. I would charge $10 per style and worked bar/bat mitzvahs, homecomings, proms, and any other occasion that called for a special ‘do.

So it’s only natural that, today, this has become my specialty. On the big day (especially a wedding day), there is a certain chaos and excitement that I enjoy. I work well under pressure and I think most brides will agree that the wedding day comes with a ton of pressure! It’s all riding on lots of details and there’s no denying that hair and makeup play a huge part.
When I’m styling on location for a wedding, I have a traveling kit I bring with me and, just like I used to, I load it up with anything I may need. (Only, this time, I’m using professional product and tools.)
Once I’m set up, I can style all day and I’m able pay special attention to each person in a comfy setting – without the distractions of a busy salon. It’s a more intimate experience and it allows for the entire bridal party to witness one another’s transformations. All in all, when I’m on location the Bride and her bridal party get to have fun, relax, and enjoy all the moments of the day together.
