New Year’s Resolutions and Predictions (Part 1)

By January 10, 2014No Comments

So, it’s a new year and we’d love to share what’s in store for 2014 here at The Root Salon. Here’s what some of our team members have resolved to conquer this year and what trends they believe we’ll see in hair and beauty this spring.

Eric Tuvale, Stylist/Senior Colorist:
For 2014 he plans on building his editorial portfolio using his original work. “My New Year’s resolution for 2014 is something that I wanted to do last year but was so busy with my client book to make it happen.” Eric is a very creative guy and he very much wants to be able to show it off!

Eric’s thoughts on up-and-coming style watch: He sees chunky, bolder color placement even in panels. But don’t reprise your high school look yet — he does not see them being as bold as they appeared in the late 90’s.

Will the top knot trend morph into the Audrey Hepburn bun in 2014?

Emily Claire, Stylist/ Senior Colorist/Bridal Specialist:
Our uber busy girl has two ambitious resolutions for the New Year. For her sake we hope she definitely accomplishes the first one. “This year I need to learn to relax!!!! I hope to find some serious downtime for myself. For as much as I work and how much I am on the go… I am not good at relaxing but I have got to learn!”

“My second commitment is a little too obvious right now. I need to get back on my health and fitness horse! Not just a diet though. I want to take slow steps and make changes to be healthy over all. I’d like to change some eating habits and up my working out! I want to be healthy… Not just shed a few pounds.”

Emily Claire takes her spring predictions from the genre of film. “I predict elegant/classic hairstyles to perfect any outfit. For instance an elegant Audrey Hepburn type bun.”

Roxanne Montiel, Stylist/Senior Colorist:
Being a new mommy (and calling herself a “home-body”) our Roxanne has become quite crafty. “This year I plan on taking more time to develop my skills with my newest hobby. I LOVE to paint furniture! I’d like to paint my dining room chairs.”

Roxanne loves make-up too. She is watching for more natural looking eyebrows.  When it comes to hair she thinks we will see lots of mermaid woven braids.

Ok, hoarders...dust off your Doc Martens from the 90's. They are coming back!

Emily Baczewski, Stylist/Senior Colorist:
“My resolution is to be more positive with my attitude and not sweat the small stuff. Hopefully that attitude will travel to others around me.” Emily B. is also known around here as “Bubbles”. Leave it to our Emily B. to have a “bubbly” resolution. We certainly appreciate her resolution but she already contributes to a group that is very positive.

Emily is quite the fashionista! She is hoping that Doc Martin boots of all shapes and styles make a big comeback.
